Wisdom from the 17th Century…

I was given this Nun’s prayer on a bookmark, some years ago, & I wanted to share it with you all…

‘Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking that I must say something on every subject & on every occasion.

Release me from craving to straighten out everybody’s affairs.

With my vast store of knowledge, it seems a pity not to use it all, but you know that I want a few friends at the end.

Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken. Keep me reasonably sweet; I do not want to be a saint – some of them are so hard to live with – but a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil.

Give me the ability to see good in unexpected places, & talents in unexpected people. And, give me the grace to tell them so.’

I do not manage this well, much of the time, but when it occurs to me that my Blog Posts will be on the internet… hmmm, I do reflect on whether I have any wisdom at all!! The parts I’ve highlighted are where I am most guilty, & do provide me with much internal discussion! Thank you for your feedback about my Posts, it does reassure me that they serve the purpose, often, of simply reminding you of what you already know…! Please know they are never written from a smug place, more often from a sense of making major cock ups in my own life! Till next time…
